Brussels Beer Festival

Three days of drinking beer in the center of Grand Place. This is an annual event in which many Belgian brewers participate. It's a pretty inexpensive way to try different beers. Notice the glasses on the table. Even at an outdoor drinking event, Belgians stick to serving their beers in the appropriate glasses. People actually came around and collected the glasses, returning them to the correct brewer. Aside from the occasional sound of glass breaking, which drew cheers from the crowd, I think this was a nice touch.

We didn't bring our camera. One of our friends, who obviously overindulged a little, took these pictures with her mobile.

Cheers!

Camping: The Highest Point In Belgium

We climbed to dizzying hights, depriving our bodies of oxygen, just to take this photo for you. Good thing none of us suffer from acrophobia!

THE END!

Camping With Friends

Here are some pictures from two different camping trips that we took this past summer, one in Luxembourg and one in Belgium. It's nice being able to camp during the summer because it's really not possible to do so in the southeastern part of the U.S. All of us have caught the "camping fever" and have been purchasing new gear. We are adding to our "camping kits". A term we picked up from our English friend, Clive.

So far the campsites that we've been to have not had fire pits. That's been the major drawback as sitting around the campfire at night is one of the best parts of the camping expierence. We are now on the quest to find a campground where we can have a fire. We are going to try Germany or the Netherlands next time. Rick and I are also interested in introducing the fine American tradition of making smores to our European friends. We will probably have to improvise a little because graham crackers and hershey bars are difficult to come by. What a pity! Will smores be the same made with speculoos cookies and Belgian chocolate?
